Australia opener David Warner, who recently retired from Tests and ODIs, and is currently playing in the ILT20, has been asked to fly back home, to prepare for the upcoming T20I season. Warner will first feature in the Australia vs West Indies series, and then will head to New Zealand for a three-match series.
As far as the ILT20 is concerned, Warner is playing for the Dubai Capitals. Coach Andrew McDonald confirmed the same. “Davey will be picked, he’ll come back from the ILT20 (in the UAE),” the coach was quoted as saying by au.sport.yahoo.
“I think most of our players that are going over there are due back on the 7th (of February) in preparation for the T20 in Hobart so Davey will be a part of those plans.”
The Australia vs West Indies T20I series starts on February 9, three days after the ODI series concludes. The Aussie coach added that there will be some squad rotations in the series.
“No it’ll be a different squad, we’ll look to be at full strength for the New Zealand series, we’ve got six games before the World Cup, a lot of the World Cup planning is in place at the moment … the West Indies series will be slightly nuanced,” he said.
