Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) cricket board has announced that Afghan Cricketer Ihsanullah Janat has been banned for 5 years. The news comes after the top order batter was found breaching the ICC Anti-Corruption codes during Kashmir Premier League 2. The player admitted to violating the rules and thus has been banned for 5 years.

Janat was found guilty of violating Article 2.1.1 of the ICC Anti-Corruption Code, which involves improper influence or efforts to fix the result, progress, conduct, or any other aspect of a match. In light of this violation, he has been handed a five-year ban from all cricket-related activities. Janat has admitted to the charges and confessed to his involvement in corrupt activities,” The ACB said in a statement.

Ihsanullah Janat Banned for Match Fixing

Afghanistan top order batter Ihsanullah Janat was found guilt of match fixing in the Kashmir Premier League. And subsequently he admitted to his crimes and has thus been slapped with a hefty 5 year ban. The ACB has claimed that with immediate effect the player has been banned from all cricketing activities for a period of 5 years.

And this is not all. Investigations are continuing as the anti-corruption unit is also under the suspicion about three other cricketers. No such decision has been taken about these players. The ACB in their statement revealed that decisions would be made once these three players are found to be guilty.

The ACB Anti-Corruption Unit (ACU) has revealed that three other players are also under suspicion for involvement in match-fixing, and investigations are underway. Decisions regarding their involvement will be made upon confirmation of their guilt,” ACB’s statement added.
