Whatever Sarfaraz Khan does never seems to be enough. But he has definitely made India captain Rohit Sharma take notice with a blazing century in the three-day India vs India ‘A’ practice match in Centurion. As the India A tours begin after a brief pause, Sarfaraz Khan now have a chance to impress the selectors at international stage.
A 71.70 average in First Class hasn’t been enough for Sarfaraz to break into the India Test side. While he did not have the numbers on India A tours to further back his claims, he now has.
Despite scoring tons of runs in Ranji Trophy for the lats three seasons, selectors ignored him. And the IND vs SA Test series wasn’t any different either.
He only got a place in the India A side. In the only innings he played against South Africa A, he hit 68 in Potchefstroom. Now, the century in front of Rohit Sharma and against Jasprit Bumrah will do a world of good to his confidence ahead of the last tour game.
And with Ruturaj Gaikwad also ruled out of the Test series, he would be under consideration to get his maiden call-up to the Test squad ahead of IND vs SA Boxing Day Test.
