“Ignored” Sanju Samson promises to support Kerala for Ranji final, despite feud with KCA

Sanju Samson had played 5 matches for Kerala in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, where he scored 136 runs at an average of 27.

India wicket-keeper batsman Sanju Samson might have been involved in a spat with the Kerala Cricket Association, over his non-inclusion in the squad for the Vijay Hazare Trophy, but he is firmly behind his team. Team Kerala made history by the making it to their maiden Ranji Trophy final recently, and will play Vidarbha on Feb 26, and Sanju will cheer his team in the summit clash.

Sanju Samson vs KCA

“I really want Kerala to be Ranji champions,” said Sanju Samson, quoted as saying by OnManorama. It is interesting to note that the stylish batter had played one Ranji fixture for Kerala this season, against Karnataka in Alur, where the match ended in a draw. Meanwhile, talking about his feud with the KCA, the board had accused the player of deliberately skipping the preparatory camp for the Vijay Hazare Trophy.

Having said that, Sanju recently underwent a finger surgery, after an injury he had sustained during the IND vs ENG T20I series. “I am deeply disappointed for not being a part of the Indian team for the Champions Trophy campaign,” he added. Sanju also opened up about Rajasthan Royals chances in the upcoming IPL 2025. “The training under Rahul Dravid gives us great confidence. We will try to win the Trophy this year,” he added.

Kerala played excellent cricket throughout the Ranji season, where they narrowly edged past J&K and Gujarat in the quarters and then semis, respectively. In both the matches, they proceeded to next rounds, with first innings lead of 2 and 1.
