Sunrisers Hyderabad players Heinrich Klaasen and Abhishek Sharma engaged in a chat after SRH demolished Mumbai Indians by 31 runs in a run-fest at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in IPL 2024. SRH smashed the record for highest runs scored in an innings as they went on to score 277 runs. Abhishek and Klaasen proved to be instrumental, with innings of 63 and 80 respectively. After the match, the duo spoke on a range of things regarding the match and their game.
Head one of my favourites: Abhishek
Abhishek Sharma gave SRH the start they wished for along with Travis Head. On being asked how it felt batting with head, Abhishek said, “I had a lot of fun batting with Travis Head. He is one of my current favourites. He is clear in his head, he just asked me to express myself.“
Had to maintain tempo: Klaasen
Klaasen explained the tempo set by the top-order helped him to get on with the game. “The way those two boys upfront (Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma) started it and then Aiden (Markram) also came in. The tempo was set, I had to keep going,” Klaasen said.
Abhishek and Klaasen’s chat in the middle
Abhishek Sharma also revealed that chat he had with Klaasen in the ground.
“I asked him, ‘Klaasey, what’s the plan? What should we do now?’ He said, ‘If you get the ball you hit, If I get the ball I’ll hit’. So I think that’s a really positive thinking. It’s helping him and it’s helping us as well,” Abhishek said, adding he was motivated to do well due to the presence of his parents in the ground.
