“If you don’t understand…” – Prithvi Shaw hits back at MCA official for ‘parties until 6 am’ claim

Prithvi Shaw was dropped midway through the Ranji Trophy due to his lack of work ethic and disciplinary decision.

Things are getting out of hand. Right now, we are seeing a back-and-forth between the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) and Prithvi Shaw. It was started when MCA announced the Mumbai squad for the Vijay Hazare Trophy (VHT) 2024-25 sans the opener. No one was shocked at Prithvi’s exclusion. That was because just two days ago, Mumbai’s captain, Shreyas Iyer, had stated that Prithvi had been instructed about what’s expected of him, and right now he wasn’t doing that.

Prithvi Shaw vs MCA

Well, Prithvi was apparently shocked. He posted a message on his social media, questioning the decision. Even if one puts past the fitness and disciplinary issues aside, one can’t put this current form past him. It seems like Prithvi forgot that he averaged under 22 in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. Mumbai may have won it, but that was because of superior performances from batters like Ajinkya Rahane and Suryansh Shedge.

Since the dropping, two MCA officials have revealed exactly why Prithvi was dropped. The most recent one came earlier today. The official revealed that Prithvi was out partying until 6 in the morning during SMAT, and his behaviour has seriously irked senior players in the team. He also added that Prithvi was given a fitness regime after he was dropped from Mumbai’s Ranji Trophy team, but he hasn’t been following it either.

Prithvi clearly didn’t agree with what the MCA official said. Late on December 20, he took to social media once again. This time, writing, “If you don’t understand it fully, don’t speak on it. Too many people have full opinions with half the facts.”
