Recently, former Australian World Cup-winning captain and current Punjab Kings coach Ricky Ponting opened up about Dhoni’s IPL future. He spoke about several aspects of MSD’s future in the league, backing him and praising his world-class wicketkeeping skills.

When Ricky Ponting was asked about Dhoni’s retirement, he came up with an impressive response. Speaking to The Indian Express, the Punjab Kings coach said, “It might just depend on how this season goes. If he can have a real impact with the bat, I think he will keep playing. If his batting output drops, he might start thinking about it. He’s been a terrific player for a long time”.
Ponting on CSK management
Not only MS Dhoni, but the entire CSK management is also under heat, as some of their recent decisions have come under scrutiny. Whether it’s team selection or their batting intent while chasing, several aspects have been questioned in recent times.
Speaking about the criticism directed at the CSK management, Australian legend Ricky Ponting said that CSK have a proven track record of success, so it’s hard to criticise their decisions. They’ve earned respect due to their consistent performance over the years.
“Look, you are not going to argue with anything CSK do; they are one of the most successful teams in IPL history. They have had consistent coaching for a long time and generally make the right decisions. With the impact player rule now, Dhoni bats after other serious ball strikers in their own right” Ponting said.
