The World Cup 2023 Schedule has been announced with the opening encounter set to be played between the champions England and runner-up New Zealand squaring off against each other on October 5. With the schedule announced, we will take a look at the format of WC 2023 in this article.

As for the format of the tournament, there are no changes made as compared to the last 50-over World Cup in England. There will be a total of ten teams participating in the event, eight of whom have already qualified thanks to their rankingx in the 2020-23 ICC CWC Super League standings.
The next two slots will be taken by the top two teams of the qualifiers, which are currently being played in Zimbabwe. The likes of Sri Lanka, Zimbabwe and West Indies are fighting it out hard to secure their place for the main event.
Just like 2019 edition, each team will play other every other team once in the league phase – amounting to nine matches per team, and 45 league games in total.
The top four teams will then qualify for the semi-finals, wherein the first-placed team of the league stage will compete against the fourth-placed team, whilst the second and third-ranked teams will take on each other. The winners of the semi-finals will compete in the final on 19 November set to be played at the iconic Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad.
