The Indian Cricket team will have an optional training session at Cantiague Park on Friday morning before their sole warm-up game ahead of the tournament.

Team India captain Rohit Sharma and head coach Rahul Dravid expressed satisfaction with the initial impression of the pitches at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York, where they will play three crucial group stage matches during the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup 2024.

The stadium utilizes drop-in pitches, which has generated some anxiety about their potential behavior, particularly after a few deliveries from spinner Kuldeep Yadav during a practice session kept uncharacteristically low.

However, both Rohit Sharma and Rahul Dravid appear confident after their first visit to the venue.

On Friday afternoon, Rohit Sharma and Rahul Dravid participated in a photo session with the T20 World Cup trophy, organized by the ICC, in the outfield of the Nassau County Stadium.

Net Session at Cantiague Park

The Indian team held a comprehensive net session at Cantiague Park on Thursday afternoon. Despite some initial wetness due to overnight rain, all players were present for the compulsory practice session. The batting order was not strictly adhered to, with batters entering the nets randomly. Opener Rohit Sharma spent a significant portion of the session in the middle.

Virat Kohli is expected to arrive in New York on Friday, having departed from Mumbai on Thursday. While his presence is confirmed for India’s warm-up match against Bangladesh on June 1st, his participation in the game remains uncertain.

Training and upcoming T20 WC Matches

The Indian Cricket team will have an optional training session at Cantiague Park on Friday morning before their sole warm-up game ahead of the tournament (vs Bangladesh on June 1).

Their group stage matches will be played in New York: versus Ireland on June 5th, versus Pakistan on June 9th, and versus Ireland again on June 12th. They will then travel to Miami for their final league game against Canada before heading to the Caribbean for the Super Eight stage and knockout rounds.
