The T20 World Cup came to a thrilling climax in Australia earlier this week when England defeated Pakistan in the final in front of more than 80,000 fans in Melbourne and the power rankings look at some of the biggest moves made by players during the four-week tournament.

England opener Alex Hales stunned the Australian crowds by making a total of 212 runs at a strike rate greater than 147, with his unbeaten 86 during the eventual champions’ emphatic 10-wicket semi-final triumph over India in Adelaide a clear standout.

Hales had been in international cricket wilderness having not played a T20I for more than three years prior to returning to the England fold just prior to the T20 World Cup and the aggressive right-hander made the biggest move on the T20I batter rankings over the course of the tournament.

The 33-year-old improved his ranking almost 100 spots overall to move within striking distance of the top 10 at 12th on the latest list of rankings for T20I batters. Hales wasn’t the only batter to make progress during the T20 World Cup, with South Africa’s Rilee Rossouw (21st to seventh) and New Zealand’s Finn Allen (30th to 11th) also catching the eye.

Pakistan duo Iftikhar Ahmed (74th to equal 53rd) and Shan Masood (100th to 59th) also made giant gains, while India all-rounder Hardik Pandya (71st to 56th) also moved up the T20I batter rankings during the Australian event.

It was one of Pandya’s teammates that made the biggest move on the T20I bowler rankings during the T20 World Cup, with young seamer Arshdeep Singh improving a whopping 32 spots from 54th to 22nd on the back of his 10 wickets Down Under.

Player of the Tournament Sam Curran jumped 11 spots on the T20I list for bowlers courtesy of his 13 scalps with the ball, while Afghanistan speedster Fazalhaq Farooqi made a 16-place jump from 36th to 20th.

Pakistan quick Shaheen Afridi also made his move up the T20I bowler rankings during the tournament with a 21-spot jump from 39th to 18th, while teenage teammate Naseem Shah rose 70 places to 30th overall.

The two biggest movers on the list for all-rounders during the T20 World Cup came from Sri Lanka spinner Dhananjaya de Silva and England veteran Ben Stokes.

De Silva improved 70 places to 30th overall on the latest rankings for all-rounders on the back of his six wickets and 177 runs at the tournament, while Stokes jumped 59 places to 41st overall following his match-winning half-century against Pakistan in the final.
