Apex cricketing body ICC has revealed the ratings for the pitches used for the World Cup 2023 final and the semis. The governing body rated the pitch used for the finals at the Narendra Modi stadium and the semis at Eden Gardens as ‘average’. Australia beat India by 6 wickets in the finals in Ahmedabad to further extend the ICC trophy drought for the Men in Blue.

The verdict on the pitch for the final IND vs AUS game was given by ICC match referee Andy Pycroft, almost a month after the conclusion of the marquee event. For the semi-finals held at Eden Gardens in Kolkata between South Africa and Australia, match referee Javagal Srinath adjudged the pitch as ‘average’.
Further, India’s matches against South Africa in Kolkata, against England in Lucknow, versus Pakistan in Ahmedabad, and against Australia in Chennai saw the pitch being rated as average as well.
