India is already the No. 1 ranked in the shortest format of the game. The Men in Blue then went on to wrap the top spot in the 50-over format. A convincing 3-0 clean sweep against NewZealand was enough to make Rohit Sharma the top-ranked team in ODIs. However, now the attention turns to the longer format of the game.
Australia is currently No.1 but faces a tough challenge in the upcoming series. Defeating mighty India at their backend will be a tough job for the Australian side. Recently, India went to Bangladesh and comprehensively outclassed the hosts 2-0 to rise up to the second spot in the Test rankings.

On the other hand, Australia has sealed its spot in the finals of the WTC. India beating Australia will help Rohit Sharma and Co to become the second finalists of the WTC.
“Honestly we don’t talk much about rankings. We discuss mainly about doing the right things on the field. Australia is a quality team and things won’t be easy for us but I am pretty sure we will be up for it in Border Gavaskar Trophy,” said Rohit Sharma after India became the top team in ODIs.
India are currently 2nd behind leaders Australia. In a showdown between the two best Test teams in the World, India have a chance to reclaim the World No 1 spot.
India will face Australia in the Border Gavaskar Trophy 2023 next month with the first Test beginning on Feb 9 in Nagpur. The remaining three Tests of the series will be played in Delhi (Feb 17-21), Dharamsala (March 1-5), and Ahmedabad (March 9-13).
