The 28-year-old has gone a long way since being mocked by fans for failing to pick up wickets and having a high economy rate in IPL games to becoming the No. 1 bowler in ODIs. He had a 4.62 economy rate while taking 24 wickets in 15 games, making him the most successful Indian bowler in the 50-over format in 2022. And he continued his impressive performance in 2023 as well, leading the Men in Blue’s bowling attack.

Siraj took nine wickets in the three-match ODI series against Sri Lanka in January 2023, making him the highest wicket-taker in both teams. Siraj has unquestionably developed into a reliable performer and an important component of Team India’s bowling arsenal. In the just concluded series against New Zealand, he took five wickets in two games and finished as the second-best bowler for both sides.

Suryakumar, who is now the top T20I batter, was announced on Wednesday as the ICC Men’s T20I Cricketer of the Year 2022. Last year, the right-handed batter scored 1164 runs in 31 games with an astounding average of 46.56. The most by any T20I batter in a year, Suryakumar smashed 68 sixes during his blitzkrieg knocks.
