ICC again pin hopes on IND vs PAK, New York to host India’s T20 WC 2024 opener

This is a repeat of 2021 and 2022, where India played Pakistan in their T20 World Cup opener

International Cricket Council has again pinned its hopes on India vs Pakistan (IND vs PAK) T20 World Cup 2024 encounter. The money-spinner clash for ICC is yet again going to be the opening match for both India and Pakistan in T20 WC. The state of New York will host this iconic clash next year.

This is a repeat of 2021 and 2022, where India played Pakistan in their T20 World Cup opener as per Dainik Jagran. In 2021, India were demolished by Pakistan by 10 wickets in Dubai while in 2022 at MCG, Virat Kohli took the matter into hands and took Men in Blue across the line.

A 34,000-seat temporary stadium about 30 miles east of New York City will serve as one of the venues for the much anticipated T20 World Cup 2024, which will be jointly hosted by the USA and the West Indies.

The venue will be constructed in the 930-acre Eisenhower Park in East Meadow, a town on Long Island, about 30 miles east of Manhattan. The location is also scheduled to hold the eagerly awaited India vs Pakistan match.

The seven locations in the Caribbean where the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 will take place from June 4 to June 30 have been confirmed by the International Cricket Council (ICC) last month. Along with three locations in the United States, Dallas, Florida, and New York, games will be held in Antigua and Barbuda, Barbados, Dominica, Guyana, Saint Lucia, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, and Trinidad and Tobago.

IND vs PAK: Money spinner for ICC

The India vs Pakistan (IND vs PAK) fixture is a cash-milking match-up for ICC which can be found in every ICC events as of late.

With millions of people watching this eagerly awaited contest, ICC wants it to be starter in 2024 T20 WC also which can then set the tone for entire tournament.

The ICC has heard a lot of cries for cricket to catch on in the United States. The country has a two-pronged draw because it has both the largest media market and the fastest-growing cricket market in the entire world.

Insidesport

The USA is regarded as one of the top 4 countries for media rights for ICC tournaments, at least in terms of cash value. The ICC took a positive move when it chose the United States to co-host the T20 World Cup.

However, the US cricketing infrastructure—or lack thereof—has long been the subject of considerable speculation and concern for the ICC. There are currently no other permanent floodlit state-of-the-art cricket facilities in the country other from Central Broward Park in Miami and the 15,000-seat MLC main stadium in Dallas that was opened for their inaugural season.

The agreement with Eisenhower Park ought to greatly lessen ICC’s problems with US venues. The ICC sent the USA about 20 games, which will probably be distributed across the three venues.
