ICC considers India as alternative if Bangladesh can’t host Women’s T20 World Cup: Report

As per a report, India is considered as an alternative to host the Women's T20 World Cup along with SL and UAE if Bangladesh cannot

The International Cricket Council (ICC) is keeping a close eye on the developments in Bangladesh following political instability and violence in the country. With fresh round of violence and unrest in the country, the ICC is also considering alternatives to host the Women’s T20 World Cup if the situation in Bangladesh does not improve. The 10-member marquee event will take place between October 3-20 in Dhaka and Sylhet.

India to host T20 World Cup if BAN can’t?

As per Cricbuzz, the ICC is likely to opt for an option in the same time zone as Bangladesh if they consider an alternative for the T20 World Cup. India, Sri Lanka and UAE fit the requirements posed by the ICC and are the potential alternatives.

All places with favourable weather will be in the mix if it becomes clear that we can’t play in Bangladesh. That may or may not be the case,” said an ICC member, as per Cricbuzz.

Widespread violence and protests rocked parts of Bangladesh in the last couple of days. The political instability reached its peak when Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina tendered her resignation and fled the country. In the wake of the fresh round of violence, the ICC issued a statement over Bangladesh hosting the Women’s T20 World Cup.

The ICC is closely monitoring developments in coordination with the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), their security agencies and our own independent security consultants. Our priority is the safety and well-being of all participants,” the ICC said on Monday.
