Former Deccan Chargers teammates Rohit Sharma and Adam Gilchrist recently reminisced about their time together in the Indian Premier League. The former Mumbai Indians captain had started his IPL career with the Deccan Chargers in 2008.
During a conversation with Michael Vaughan, Adam Gilchrist played the iconic theme song of Deccan Chargers, now known as Sunrisers Hyderabad. Upon hearing it, Rohit Sharma immediately lit up with a smile, labelling it as the best IPL theme song ever.
“I don’t think any current IPL theme song even comes close to Deccan Chargers song. I still remember that song”. Sharma said.

Rohit Sharma started his IPL career with Deccan Chargers
Rohit Sharma made his IPL debut with Deccan Chargers in 2008. Despite the team’s star-studded lineup, which included the likes of Herschelle Gibbs, Andrew Symonds, Shahid Afridi, and VVS Laxman, it was the young 20-year-old Sharma who made a mark. After finishing at the bottom in the inaugural IPL season, Deccan Chargers bounced back to claim the title in 2009 when the tournament was held in South Africa.
Sharma’s tenure with Deccan concluded in 2010, after which he joined Mumbai Indians, where he quickly rose to prominence. Appointed as captain in 2013, Sharma has since led Mumbai Indians to a record-breaking five IPL trophies. Meanwhile, Deccan Chargers underwent a transformation in 2013, transitioning into Sunrisers Hyderabad under new ownership.
