Virender Sehwag has an excellent record in the shortest format of the game that holds up to this day despite returning from the sport 9 years ago. So, it’s not surprising that he received an offer from other T20 leagues in the world. But according to the legendary opener, the money they offered him was so little that he could spend it in a day.
Talk about millions: Virender Sehwag to BBL and the Hundred
Talking with Adam Gilchrist and Michael Vaughan on their podcast, Club Prairie Fire, he said:
“I still remember that when I retired from the Indian team—not retired but dropped—and was playing IPL, I received an offer to participate in Big Bash. I said, how much money are you offering? They said some $100,000. I replied, I can spend that much money on my holidays.”
“Going out for one month playing Big Bash or The Hundred, where you get only that $100,000, maybe $200,000. If you talk about millions, yes, then I’m interested; otherwise, no,” he added.
