Jasprit Bumrah is ready to don the role of the captain for the IND vs AUS 1st Test in Perth. Standing on his only 2nd Test captaincy, the ace speedster claims it has been a special privilege to captain the India Cricket Team. He went on to clarify that previous captains, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma’s style was different and his captaincy is also going to be different.
However, Bumrah is not shying away from any challenge. In fact, he claims that it is an honor to captain his side and he loves taking responsibility. Bumrah will be captaining the side as Rohit Sharma is yet to travel to Australia after the birth of his second child a couple of days ago.
Bumrah ready to Captain India
“It is an honour. I have my own style. Virat was different, Rohit was different. and I have my own way. It is a privilege. I don’t take it as a position. I love taking responsibility,” Jasprit Bumrah said in the pre-match Press Conference.
Jasprit Bumrah is the appointed vice-captain of the Test Team as the leadership continues to be with Rohit Sharma. It is expected that Rohit will once again take the reins of the team when to travels to Australia and becomes ready to play the 2nd Test match of the Border Gavaskar Trophy.
“I spoke with Rohit earlier. But I got a little bit of clarity on leading the side after coming in here,” Bumrah added.
Bumrah claims that he has his own style in captaincy and won’t be copying anyone else. He further advocated the fact that more pace bowlers should captain their sides. He claimed that pacers are tactically better and took the example of Pat Cummins for doing a tremendous job.
“I have always advocated for pacers being captains. They are tactically better. Pat has done a phenomenal job. There are a lot of models in the past as well. Kapil Dev and lot of other captains in the past. Hopefully a start of a new tradition,” Bumrah added.
