Sunil Narine on Wednesday produced one of the innings of IPL 2024 when he smashed a 39-ball 85 to propel Kolkata Knight Riders towards the huge score of 272 against Delhi Capitals at the ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Vizag. KKR, who chose to bat first, was on fire as they amassed a massive 272/7 in their 20 overs, which is the second-highest total in IPL history.

Narine was on fire on Wednesday, as his all-round performance helped KKR gain a massive victory of 106 runs, which extended their winning run to 3 matches in IPL 2024. The West Indies star scored 85 with the bat before producing a spell of 1/29 to ensure the Knights’ win parade continued. Narine also picked up the ‘Player of the Match’ for his stellar display.
Cricket is about batting: Narine
After the match, Narine in a lighthearted way said that he dislikes being overly prepared and that a less-is-more strategy works best for him.
“Ahh… I think cricket is all about batting. If we can contribute more with the bat, it’s pleasing for us and for the team. But I enjoy my bowling. (On not attending the batter’s meeting) I follow one rule: The less we know, that’s much better for me,” said Narine.
‘Wanted to win by a bigger margin’
Narine also stated that he wanted to contain the opposition by using scoreboard pressure on a pitch that was a batters’ paradise.
“On a good wicket like that, I tried to keep things tight. With the scoreboard pressure on them, it was much easier tonight. Overall, I say that it was a complete team performance with the ball. Wickets up front with the new ball, and we kept the lid on the scoring throughout. We wanted to win by a bigger margin, so it helps later on in the tournament,” concluded Narine.
