“I dropped you”: Rohit Sharma laughs as karma backfires when Jaker Ali misses KL Rahul’s catch

India will next play Pakistan on Sunday in their second game of the Champions Trophy

In life, Karma works in mysterious ways. One such incident took place in the India vs Bangladesh clash in the ICC Champions Trophy in Dubai. India Cricket Team skipper Rohit Sharma had dropped Jaker Ali on Axar Patel’s hattrick ball. In a comical way later on in the game, Jaker Ali returned the favor by slipping and missing KL Rahul’s catch.

When Jaker Ali dropped KL Rahul’s easy catch, Rohit Sharma was spotted in an ecstatic mood saying “I dropped you”. Coming to the game, dropping KL Rahul’s catch proved extremely costly for the Bengal Tigers.

Jaker Ali gifts lifeline to KL Rahul

After the dismissals of Shreyas Iyer and Axar Patel, Bangladesh could have turned the tide in their favor if they had got the early wicket of Rahul. But fate had other plans! The Indian batter mistimed the shot as the ball took the aerial route. Only for Jaker Ali to drop a simple catch.

But there is a past to this incident. It was on the 9th over of the first innings. Just 4 overs each from Mohammed Shami and Harshit Rana, Rohit Sharma introduced spin during the first powerplay. On came Axar Patel and it was a spell to behold. On his second ball, he dispatches Tanzid Hasan. The third ball, he cleans up Mushfiqur Rahim.

Time for the hat trick ball and it is a perfect delivery. A thick outside edge from Jaker Ali but Rohit fumbles and drops it at slip. But the missed catch proved costly. Ali (68) and Towhid Hridoy (100) recovered Bangladesh’s innings. But in the end, it was a sweet taste of karma as Ali dropped KL Rahul‘s catch and India’s keeper finished the game for the Men in Blue.
