I don’t feel like I’m 41: England speedster James Anderson reveals reason behind his longevity

Anderson's international cricket career, which has spanned over two decades, might come as a surprise for many but Anderson feels age is just a number.

When England speedster James Anderson made his debut in international cricket in 2002, the world didn’t know what Coronavirus was. Virat Kohli was a 14-year old playing cricket on the streets of Delhi. Brazil had just won their 5th FIFA World Cup and India were still dreaming of their 2nd ODI World Cup triumph after 1983.

Despite bowling 73 overs in the series, England Cricket Team have retained James Anderson for IND vs ENG Ranchi Test beginning Feb 23.

Cut to 2024, a lot of cricketing legends who debuted after Anderson have retired, India have played 3 ODI World Cup finals and won one. However, James Anderson is still playing for England, running in with the same passion and giving opposition batters a hard time.

What is the secret behind James Anderson’s longevity? The England speedster has revealed details ahead of the final IND vs ENG Test.

Yeah, I guess you do look at things like that, but to be honest, I just go with the feel of me and my body. I don’t feel like I’m 41 years and 200 days old. You know, I still feel young. I can keep up with the young guys in training. I can still bowl the speeds that I want to, I can still deliver the skills that I want to. So, for me that’s the most important thing. The age is just a number and it’s pretty irrelevant from my thought process,” Anderson said in an exclusive chat with Jio Cinema.
