Former England pacer Stuart Broad has criticised the Ranchi pitch after Indian batters poor show on Day 2 of the IND vs ENG 4th Test on Saturday.
Notably, India’s in-form batting line-up struggled on a turning pitch. Barring Yashasvi Jaiswal’s 73, none of the the batters could make big contribution.
“I mainly tweet about England- but looking at India. They’re an amazing team on flat Test pitches in India where their spinners skill comes into it & they out bowl other teams. Playing on pitches that roll along the floor brings in the opposition so much more. I can’t understand why they’ve prepared a pitch like this?” Stuart Broad posted on X.
The hosts ended the day at 219/7 with Dhruv Jurel being the only recognised batter. Off-spinner Shoaib Bashir starred with the ball as he ended the day with figures of 4/84.
Earlier, Joe Root’s century and Ollie Robinson’s maiden fifty helped England to post 353 on a challenging track. Ravindra Jadeja picked up 4/67, and pacer Akash Deep grabbed 3/83 for India.
