‘Hyderabad is history…’: Rohit Sharma warns England ahead of Vizag Test

The Indian skipper's message is clear: the team is determined to learn from their mistakes, adapt to the conditions, and showcase their fighting spirit to level the series.

India vs England 2nd Test: India’s captain, Rohit Sharma, has issued a strong rallying cry ahead of the crucial second Test against England in Vizag, emphasizing that the Hyderabad defeat is in the past and the focus is firmly on leveling the series.

Winning the toss and electing to bat first, Rohit Sharma acknowledged the good batting surface but stressed the importance of playing smart cricket: “Looks a good pitch, the pitch will do its thing, we need to play good cricket.”

He downplayed the significance of the Hyderabad loss, urging his team to move forward: “What happened in Hyderabad is history, we need to move on. We have spoken on things we need to do, now we need to execute on our plans.”

While acknowledging positive aspects of the first Test, Rohit Sharma admitted lapses in intent: “I thought we batted well in the first innings, but didn’t have the same intent. Similarly, in the second innings with the bowl there was a brilliant knock by Ollie Pope.”

Rohit Sharma: Message is clear

Addressing the forced changes due to injuries, Rohit Sharma expressed confidence in the replacements: “Injuries are part and parcel of the game, but that’s why we have the guys sitting on the bench. Two forced changes – Jadeja and KL miss out, and Siraj has been rested. We’ve got Mukesh, Kuldeep and Rajat Patidar making his debut.”

The Indian skipper’s message is clear: the team is determined to learn from their mistakes, adapt to the conditions, and showcase their fighting spirit to level the series. With a new-look bowling attack featuring the returning Kuldeep Yadav and debutant Mukesh Kumar, and Rajat Patidar eager to prove his mettle, all eyes will be on India to execute their plans and bounce back in Vizag.

Will Rohit Sharma’s words translate into action on the field? The second Test promises to be an exciting spectacle as India seeks redemption and England aims to solidify their lead.
