‘Hundred in last Test’: SCG curator wishes for David Warner’s fitting farewell in AUS vs PAK

SCG Curator expresses his wish for David Warner's fitting farewell in AUS vs PAK as he takes the field for one last time.

The head groundsman of the Sydney Cricket Ground expressed gratitude for the consistent support his team has received from David Warner over the years. As Warner prepares for his final Test at his home ground against Pakistan from January 3, the groundsman wished the Australian opener a fitting farewell in the New Year’s Test.

“We really have a lot of time for David Warner. He really looks after the curators around Australia. And he’s gone into bat for us a lot of the time,” Adam Lewis told Sydney Morning Herald.

“He knows what we go through, and he knows how tough it is. We’ve got a lot of respect for him. I know my whole team here would love nothing more than to see him get a hundred in his last Test. That would be great.”

Hailing from New South Wales, Warner boasts an impressive Test average of 82.94 at the SCG, amassing 793 runs in 11 matches, including four centuries. Starting the series against Pakistan with a century in Perth, Warner aims to conclude his Test career on a high note.

Despite debates surrounding his place in the side, Warner gained the backing of team management and selectors for the series opener, responding with a match-winning hundred. While he faced challenges in the Boxing Day Test in Melbourne, expectations remain high for Warner to deliver another substantial performance in the final match of his illustrious career.

Warner’s farewell Test will be played on a freshly laid pitch in Sydney, promising to provide a sporting track. Australia, maintaining an unchanged 13-member squad, gears up for the final Test against Pakistan.
