Humiliating our crown jewel: Nepal fans enraged as Sandeep Lamichhane’s visa gets denied

The first time, his visa was rejected on May 22nd. It appears that it's all over for the former Nepal cricket captain and star spinner, as his visa has been denied once again by the US embassy.

It looks like it’s all over for Nepal’s spin sensation, Sandeep Lamichhane. Considering the scenario, his availability for the T20 World Cup 2024 seems almost impossible. Lamichhane’s visa to the USA has been denied once again by the US Embassy in Nepal.

Although this action is not well received by the Nepali public, numerous tweets and images are coming from Nepal showing local people protesting the decision and expressing support for their local hero. The embassy’s decision has been viewed by the public through dual lenses, some believe it was justified, while others think he deserves the US visa. Take a look at the reactions coming from Nepal, which are taking X by storm.

Why was Sandeep Lamichhane’s visa denied by the USA embassy?

The visa denial is primarily related to the rape case. It comes after Lamichhane, who was acquitted earlier this month by the Patan High Court. As he was convicted of raping an 18-year-old woman in a Kathmandu hotel in 2022. He had initially received an eight-year jail sentence from the Kathmandu District Court.

However, the star spinner rape conviction was overturned by Patan High Court on appeal after the former national captain challenged the sentence for sexual assault handed down in January.
