How much will BCCI pay to India’s new head coach Gautam Gambhir?

Head coach Gautam Gambhir will join the team for a white-ball series against Sri Lanka. He will receive the same salary as Rahul Dravid.

Gautam Gambhir was appointed as the head coach of the Indian cricket team by the BCCI. The 42-year-old left-handed batsman, known for his crucial contributions to India’s 2011 ODI World Cup victory, emerged as the leading candidate to succeed Dravid following India’s recent T20 World Cup triumph in Barbados. Gambhir’s initial task as India’s coach will be the upcoming tour of Sri Lanka, featuring three T20Is and three ODIs starting from July 27.

What will be Gautam Gambhir salary?

According to a BCCI source speaking to PTI, discussions regarding salary are ongoing, with indications that it will be in a similar range as Rahul Dravid’s.

“For Gautam, it was important that he took charge and salary and other stuff can be worked out as it’s not going anywhere. It is similar to the case of Ravi Shastri in 2014 when he was first made Director of Cricket over head coach Duncan Fletcher. The day Ravi joined, he didn’t even have a contract and things worked out. In case of Gautam also, some finer details are being worked out. The salary will be in the same range of Rahul Dravid,” BCCI source said to PTI.

In addition to a substantial annual salary, Gambhir, will receive other significant benefits. These perks reportedly include a daily allowance of Rs 21,000 during tours, business class travel with the team, and accommodation in top-tier facilities, as reported by the Economic Times.
