Mohammed Siraj may have found a new home In Gujarat Titans in IPL 2025 but will face a tough challenge in making it to the playing XI in all matches. GT’s bowling line-up sans Siraj would already comprise of Kagiso Rabada, Rahul Tewatia, Rashid Khan, and Washington Sundar. Now, there will be a three-way fight between Ishant Sharma, Prasidh Krishna and Siraj to fill in one spot in the XI.
Triple threat battle between Krishna, Siraj & Ishant
Siraj numbers in T20Is and in the IPL aren’t that great. Despite being a part of the T20 World Cup-winning Indian team, he only managed to get 2 wickets in the calendar year. He devoted majority of his time to playing red-ball cricket where he found more success. In IPL, he has 93 wickets from 93 matches, and averages 30.34. He has earned the reputation of being a tad bit expensive as well over the years during his stint with RCB.
Here’s where Ishant and Prasidh can trouble Siraj. Firstly, they will be preferred over the Hyderabad pacer simply because of their height and the benefit they can extract from surfaces across India due to it. Sharma is a seasoned veteran in the IPL, having bagged 92 wickets from 110 matches so far. GT will mark the sixth team that Ishant will play for in the cash-rich league. In T20s, he has 151 wickets from 172 matches, averaging 31.27.
Krishna has 49 wickets from 51 IPL matches and averages 34.75. He has played for KKR and RR in the past. He boasts of 81 wickets from 82 T20s and averages 31.91. He is almost at par with Siraj in T20Is, having played 5 matches and taking 8 wickets.

While Siraj is logically an automatic pick in GT’s playing XI, it remains to be seen if Krishna or Ishant will be picked ahead of him. After his Champions Trophy snub, only his star power can get him into the line-up ahead of the other two pacers.
