A batter with a strike rate much better than most of the RCB line-up who have featured in their playing XI so far has just warmed the bench so far. Yep, we’re talking about none other than Will Jacks. The prolific all-rounder hasn’t been given a chance by the management yet in IPL 2024, despite being a potential replacement for the underperforming Glenn Maxwell and Cameron Green.
Why RCB need Will Jacks desperately?
Will Jacks has a staggering strike rate of 158.66 in T20s and has amassed 4130 runs in the shortest format. The all-rounder has a reputation for taking the bowlers to the cleaners with his big hits. And his strike rate is much better than that of the other stars who have made it past him in the playing XI.
Kohli’s pace, Faf’s failure
RCB’s opening pair have absolutely failed to get going as partners. Faf du Plessis has had a horrible start to IPL 2024, underperforming in each game to date. The prolific opener has only managed to score 109 runs in IPL 2024. With a T20 career strike rate of 133.67 and 9700 runs under his belt, the big figure has failed to get going this season.
His partner Virat Kohli is no different either, when it comes to the strike rate. Despite being the Orange Cap holder, the star batter has been criticised for playing a slow-paced knock in a fast-paced game. His strike rate in T20s too is similar to du Plessis, 133.73.

Maxwell flop
‘Big Show’ Glenn Maxwell has failed to live up to his nickname this season. Despite getting repeated chances, the Aussie has failed with both bat and ball so far. What adds salt to the wounds is Maxwell’s stats in the shortest format, especially that audacious strike rate of 153.67. RCB’s finisher Dinesh Karthik isn’t any better, having only a strike rate of 135.66 despite all the heroics so far.
Not so Green!
Cameron Grreen, whose strike rate is 146.27 in T20s, hasn’t come of any good use for RCB either. Such is the plight of RCB that their impact player Mahipal Lomror possesses a strike rate of just 128.07 in his T20 career! To make matters worse, their bowling woes are doubled by an underperforming Mohammad Siraj.
