The India Cricket Team began their journey to the WTC Finals 2025 with 10 Test matches. They convincingly won the Chennai Test, but rain can play spoilsport and force the IND vs BAN Kanpur Test to a draw. After this, India will have 8 Test matches remaining and will need 5 wins a 1 draw to secure their spot in the finals of the WTC 2025.
The task won’t be easy, but India are placed in a very strong position to reach the finals. Should India reach the finals, they would be the first team to reach three successive finals, having lost the previous two finals to New Zealand and Australia. After the IND vs BAN Tests, India will host New Zealand for a 3-match Test series.
The Kiwis are going through a rough patch and were blown apart by Sri Lanka. The Asian side went on to beat the Black Caps at home with a 2-0 victory. Thus it can be assumed that India will have it easy against Kiwis. But the biggest challenge will be against Australia in the Border Gavaskar Trophy.
India will travel to the land of Down Under for a 5-match Test series. While India tops the WTC standings and Australia are placed second, the series will be extremely important for India. Should India manage a 3-0 whitewash against New Zealand, then they will need 2 wins and a draw against Australia.
