Sunrisers Hyderabad opener Abhishek Sharma revealed that he was sick for four days prior to the contest against PBKS. The southpaw created history by becoming the Indian with the highest score in IPL history. Breaking free from shackles of poor form, the SRH opener slammed 141 runs off just 55 deliveries on Saturday.
“Was sick for four days”
Speaking at the post-match press conference, Sharma said that it was the efforts of Suryakumar Yadav and Yuvraj Singh to check on him that helped him recover from the fever and put up a stellar performance.
“I was sick for four days, I had a temperature but I feel very grateful to have people like Yuvraj Singh and Suryakumar Yadav around me. They were the ones who were continuously calling me because they knew that I can do something like this,” Abhishek said.
Sharma dropped a hint on this during the post-match presentation when he credited SKY and his mentor Yuvi for always believing in him and being there for him.
“Special mention to Yuvi (paaji), I have been talking to him and also thanks to Suryakumar Yadav as well. I have been in touch with him and he has been there for me,” Abhishek had said.
Prior to this game, Abhishek had struggled to get going with the bat. In 5 games, he could only manage scores of 24, 6, 1, 2 and 18. However, he rediscovered his form against PBKS, helping SRH end their losing streak in an emphatic fashion.
Now, Abhishek has 176 runs in 6 matches for his side, and his numbers have drastically improved. He averages 33.20 and with a strike-rate of 200.
