Honoured: Shubman Gill after meeting ‘first tribal cricketer to play the IPL’ Robin Minz’s father

Minz's father works as a security guard at the Ranchi airport. Gill met the great man as he was going back home after leading India to a victory in the fourth Test in Ranchi.

What a great gesture from Shubman Gill! Fresh from playing one of his best Test knocks in Ranchi to secure the India vs England Test series, the 24-year-old has paid a beautiful tribute to the first tribal cricketer to play in the IPL, Robin Minz’s father.

Robin had made headlines after being bought for a whopping Rs 3.6 crore in the IPL 2024 auction. After the Gujarat Titans bought him, the cricketer, who hails from Jharkhand, became the first tribal cricketer to get an IPL contract.

Later, it was revealed that Robin’s father, Mr. Francis Xavier Minz, works as a security guard at Ranchi’s airport. As Indian cricketers make their way back to their homes for a short break ahead of the fifth Test in Dharamsala, Gill decides to meet the inspirational man.

Honoured to meet Robin Minz’s father. Your journey and hardwork has been inspiring. Looking forward to see you in the IPL,” Shubman Gill wrote on his Instagram story while posting an image with Robin’s father.
