Hockey World Cup Opening Ceremony: The 15th edition of the FIH Odisha Hockey Men’s World Cup 2023 will begin at Odisha from 11th January 2023. Ahead of the event, a grand opening ceremony will be held to commemorate the beginning of the event. The Hockey World Cup ‘Celebrations’ will be held on Wednesday in Barabati Stadium, Cuttack. Who will perform in the Opening Ceremony?
The show will feature live performances by Ranveer Singh and Disha Patani. They are set to set the stage ablaze with their dance moves. Other top performances planned for the night includes K-Pop Band BLACKSWAN. The members of the band will entrall the crowd and it will also feature Odisha Singer Shreya Lenka’s performance.
The anthem of the World Cup will also be performed LIVE at the Barabati Stadium. Writer and composer of the song Pritam will be taking centrestage. He will be joined by vocalists Benny Dayal, Neeti Mohan, Lisa Mishra, Amit Mishra, Antara Mitra, Sreerama Chandra, Nakash Aziz and Shalmali Kholgade along with Namita Meleka from Odisha.
Traditional performances portraying Odia culture is also set to light up the opening ceremony. Many local Odia stars and performers will be on the stage. Meanwhile Guru Aruna Mohanty and National Award winner Shiamak Davar have choreographed the dance performances for the evening. The cultural program will start from 3 pm tomorrow and will continue till 9 pm.
Hockey World Cup: India are strong podium contenders in Men’s Hockey World Cup, says VR RaghunathAccording to a release, at 6 PM in the evening, the Chief Minister will attend the function and officially inaugurate it. The players of all the participating countries in the World Cup, their supporting staffs, diplomatic officials will all be in attendance to witness the opening ceremony For the occasion, the entire city of Cuttack has also been decked up.
When will the tournament begin?
All the matches will get underway on 13th January, Friday. The tournament is set to feature 16 teams including the hosts India. All the teams are divided into four pools of four teams each. Pool D encompasses India, England, Spain, and Wales.
The group stage matches are scheduled for January 13 through January 20. India’s league get underway on January 13 in Rourkela as they square off against Spain. The match against England will take place on January 15 at the same venue, while the match against Wales will be played on January 19 at the Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneshwar.
Following the crossover matches on January 22 and 23, the quarterfinals on January 24 and 25, matches for the 9th to 16th positions on January 26 and 28, semifinals on January 27, and matches for the top four positions on January 29 will be the next games.
