The South Korean photojournalist came to Bhubaneswar to cover the Hockey World Cup. While having a cup of tea at a roadside stall in the Dumduma area, he fell into the open drain. Following the incident, the journalist was immediately rushed to a hospital for treatment.

Meanwhile, the Odisha Government, Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC), and other concerned government agencies did not leave any stone unturned to give Bhubaneswar entirely a new look ahead of the Men’s Hockey World Cup.

The roads of the capital city were repaired, Scores of street vendors were evicted, and massive beautification and electrification works were also undertaken. But the incident of a photojournalist from South Korea getting injured after falling into an open drain is certainly a matter of concern.

The 15th edition of the Men’s Hockey World Cup started on Friday, 13th January 2023. The final of the tournament is scheduled for Sunday, 29th January. After all the makeovers for the Men’s Hockey World Cup, it seems that neither government, BMC nor other related agencies have taken any measures to plug such loopholes and prevent mishaps that can even cost anybody’s life.
