Hits & flops: Who delivered and who disappointed in KKR vs SRH IPL 2025 match?

With IPL 2024 champions KKR thumping Pat Cummins' SRH, take a look at which players stood out and who disappointed.

Kolkata Knight Riders’ Venkatesh Iyer, Vaibhav Arora, and Varun Chakaravarthy stepped up at crucial moments—one with the bat and the other two with the ball. Iyer thumped the SRH bowlers, while Vaibhav Arora struck early in the powerplay, dismantling SRH’s top batters. Later, Varun Chakaravarthy took charge with the white shiny ball, finishing the job in style. As a result, the defending champions defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad by 80 runs in their IPL 2025 clash on Thursday.

While several players shone brightly, a few disappointed as well. Take a look at the big hits and major flops from the SRH vs KKR IPL 2025 match.

Hits👍

Vaibhav Arora

Travis Head, Ishan Kishan, and Heinrich Klaasen, it’s fair to say this trio is undoubtedly a powerhouse when it comes to striking the ball. But interestingly, they all failed against young Vaibhav Arora, who dismantled the SRH batting lineup. Varun Chakaravarthy also played a key role in sealing the victory, but it was Arora’s bowling that grabbed the spotlight. Unsurprisingly, he was awarded the Player of the Match for his brilliant performance.

Venkatesh Iyer

It looks like Venkatesh Iyer is now repaying the trust shown in him by KKR. There had been plenty of criticism after his poor performances in recent outings, but his innings of 60 off 29 against SRH seems to be turning things around. Coming in to bat at No. 5, Iyer smashed the SRH bowlers all over the park—particularly targeting SRH captain Pat Cummins. Fair to say, he humbled him. Iyer played a crucial role in helping KKR post a massive total.

Rinku Singh

Another name who had been quiet for some time but rose to the occasion against SRH was Rinku Singh. He played an impactful cameo, scoring 32 runs off just 17 balls, smashing four fours and one six at a strike rate of 188.24. It looks like he is getting back on track—or rather, showcasing just how talented he truly is.

Flops👎

Travis Head

Travis Head, It’s surprising to see that apart from the first two games, he has been struggling in the last two. There were expectations from him, but unfortunately, he disappointed the SRH fans. He managed to score just 4 runs and got out when the team needed him to stay. Clearly, Vaibhav Arora’s bowling outclassed the star batter.

Arora bowled it at a good length and outside the off-stump, trying to keep it out of Head’s reach, despite knowing that the southpaw likes room. Travis Head attempted a powerful shot but couldn’t time it well, sending the ball high towards mid-off. Harshit Rana ran back and took an impressive catch.

Abhishek Sharma

Nothing is going right for Abhishek Sharma as well. On the last ball of the 2nd over, Harshit Rana bowled a slower delivery wide of the off-stump to Abhishek Sharma. He threw his hands at it, but his bottom hand came off the bat. The ball looped off the edge and went straight into the hands of Venkatesh Iyer in the slips. He got out after scoring just 2 runs off 6 balls. There is certainly pressure on him to produce some magic.

Pat Cummins

Conceding 44 runs in his four-over spell is not what you expect from SRH captain Pat Cummins. The veteran is known not only for taking wickets but also for controlling the flow of runs. However, against KKR, he completely failed in both aspects.

What was interesting to see was the nervousness on Cummins’ face as he struggled to make some decisions while KKR batters Venkatesh Iyer and Angkrish Raghuvanshi were at the crease.
