Tilak Varma has scripted his name in the history books. He became the first batter in history among both male and female categories to slam three tons in successive innings in T20 cricket. His latest century came in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy for Hyderabad against Meghalaya.
Tilak Varma has been in sensational form off late. Come to the IND vs SA T20I series, he went on to hammer back-to-back centuries against the Proteas. And now in the SMAT, on his first outing, he has notched up yet another ton which makes it his third ton in three innings – a feat registered by no other batter to date.
Among other records, the 22-year-old batter became the first Indian batter to slam 150+ scores in the shortest format of the game. Among the female, Kiran Navgire achieved the feat in 2022.
Tilav Varma showcased his brilliance against Meghalaya in SMAT where he tonked 14 fours and 10 sixes to achieve 151 runs from 67 deliveries. His brilliant knock helped Hyderabad register 248 runs on the board which incidentally became the fifth-highest total in SMAT.
Tilak Varma was retained by Mumbai Indians back on IPL 2025 Retention Day. The young southpaw has been a regular for Mumbai Indians since making his debut in IPL 2023. Apart from the Big 4, Tilak Varma became the other batter to be retained by the 5-time champions.
