Australia’s Nathan Lyon etched his name in history as he became the eight bowler to have 500 plus Test wickets to his name. The off-spinner achieved this record feat in the 1st PAK vs AUS Test in Perth, with his 500th victim being Ashraf. Australia are closing in on a huge win in the 1st Test against Pakistan, with the visitors’ batting order crumbling.
Nathan Lyon picks 500th Test wicket
Lyon inched close to the landmark after grabbing three wickets in the first innings. Muttaiah Muralitharan (800), Shane Warne (708) and Anil Kumble (619) are the only spinners above him on the list of bowlers with most Test wickets. Lyon now has 500 wickets in 123 Tests.
PAK vs AUS 1st Test: Day 4
Resuming the game on Day 4, Khawaja scored a resilient half-century before he was dismissed for 90 runs. Warner, Head and Labuschagne failed to fire while Steve Smith played a useful 45-run knock. Mitchell Marsh was once again the lone warrior, remaining not out at 63* as Australia declared their innings for 233-5.
Mitchell Starc struck in his first over has he got rid of Abdullah Shafique in the last delivery. He soon followed it up by sending Imam-ul-Haq packing. Skipper Shan Masood was dismissed cheaply yet again by Hazlewood. Babar Azam managed stay in the middle briefly before he was caught behind off a delivery from Pat Cummins.
After tea on Day 4, Sarfaraz Ahmed became the first batsman to be dismissed as Starc struck again.
