“He’s trying to…”: Scott Boland speaks out on Nitish Kumar Reddy’s heroics in IND vs AUS

Scott Boland praised Nitish Kumar Reddy's approach to take innings forward on Day 3 of the IND vs AUS Test.

The Day 3 of the IND vs AUS Test at the Melbourne Cricket Ground was all over a good contest between the two. Particularly through Nitish Kumar Reddy’s outstanding hundred saved the day for India. As the day concluded with India at 356/9, Scott Boland represented the Australian side in the post-match press conference to share reflections on the day’s play.

Boland praises Nitish Kumar Reddy’s performance

Scott Boland acknowledged the efforts of Nitish Kumar Reddy, who stood firm against the Australian bowling attack. “He’s playing really nicely, trying to take us on,” Boland commented. Boland expressed hope that Australia could secure an early wicket on the fourth day to tip the balance back in their favour. Scott Boland further appreciate the younster. “I played the A game, PM game and couple of Tests. He’s a nice player and doing well. Got every shot in book. Yeah.” he added.

“He’s been trying to take a couple of steps just wanted to get Kez (Alex Carey) upto and keep him at check. I don’t mind it but just keeping him in check.” he concluded.

On Starc’s injury concerns

Addressing Mitchell Starc’s minor injury concerns, Boland assured the media that any niggles within the team were not severe. “He’s gonna be fine. Little bit of niggle. He’s like that,” he said. “Once he had a broken finger and came out and bowled 140kph a couple of years ago.” he added.

Love to play on the homeground

Boland shared his excitement about playing at his home ground during a Boxing Day Test. “It’s been great. Home ground. It’s my third Boxing Day Test. There’s cheer every time I come on to bowl,” he remarked, underscoring the support from the Melbourne crowd. Discussing Australia’s strategic outlook, Boland mentioned the team’s aim to gain a lead in the match. “We just wanted to see if we can get some decent lead. It was just a tactic,” Boland explained.
