New head coaches in IPL 2025
Rahul Dravid was appointed head coach of the Rajasthan Royals in September 2024. Dravid signed a contract with the team after leading India to victory in the 2024 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup. Ricky Ponting was appointed head coach of the Punjab Kings for the Indian Premier League new season. The team will be led by Ponting for the upcoming season and beyond. Mahela Jayawardene, a former cricket player from Sri Lanka, has been named the Mumbai Indians’ IPL 2025 head coach. Jayawardene will replace former South African international Mark Boucher as the head coach, having previously served as the Mumbai Indians’ Global Head of Cricket. The Delhi Capitals also unveiled their new coaching staff and appointed former India batsman Hemang Badani as head coach. Badani, who played 40 ODIs and four Test matches for India, brings a wealth of knowledge from his coaching roles in various leagues.
