The Mumbai Indians are playing in IPL 2025, aiming for their sixth trophy this season. Ahead of their clash against Gujarat Titans, Mumbai Indians released a special interview with Rohit Sharma, where he spoke about various topics, including the role of youngsters in the team.
Mumbai Indians are known for scouting young talent from across the country, nurturing them in their camps, and giving them opportunities in the IPL. One such example is Vignesh Puthur. Along with the new players, several others joined the team after the mega auction. With a mix of fresh faces and the core group, team bonding and chemistry become crucial.
Rohit on opening with young players
Rohit Sharma believes that it is the responsibility of the core group, including Tilak Varma, Suryakumar Yadav, Hardik Pandya, Rohit Sharma, and Jasprit Bumrah, to ensure that everyone feels comfortable in the team. “I see a lot of buzz this year, a different energy with the lot of new guys who have joined us. Guys like Tilak, Surya, and Hardik—all of us have played for this team before, so it’s our responsibility and duty to ensure that everyone feels their best.” said Rohit Sharma.
Young Tilak Verma has responsibilities now
Rohit also explained, how Tilak Verma has opened up with the team in last three years, Tilak came as a 19 year old young lad to the team. “I remember when Tilak Varma joined the team for the first time—he was very shy and used to sit quietly in a corner. Now, he has opened up. He has been playing for this team for three years, and he has taken on the role of welcoming new players. He feels it’s his responsibility to make sure everyone feels comfortable, which is great.” Rohit shared.
Team chemistry matters
