‘He showed what he can do’ Rohit Sharma heaps praise for Rinku Singh after IND vs AFG 3rd T20 heroics

IND vs AFG: Rohit Sharma happy with Rinku Singh, claims latter understands what is needed from him after IND vs AFG 3rd T20I heroics

India Cricket Team skipper Rohit Sharma has heaped praises for Rinku Singh. After an eventful, confusing yet entertaining match, Rohit was adjudged as the Player of the Match for his enigmatic knock of 121 runs unbeaten. With the game being tied, it went to 2 Super Overs – Rohit continued to hammer runs to keep India in the contest.

But after the match, which meant India clinched a 3-0 win, Rohit went on to praise Rinku Singh. While Rohit stole the headlines for his massive 4th T20I ton, it was Rinku Singh who kept the partnership going. The designated finisher remained unbeaten on 69 runs from 39 balls with 2 fours and 6 sixes.

It was a game to remember. India being down to 22/4. Then came India’s recovery and finally the hosts putting up a big total of 212. Afghanistan started well, lost wickets in the middle and ended up drawing the game. After 2 confusion infused super overs, it was India who clinched the win.

“I don’t remember when was the last time this happened. I think I batted 3 times in one of the IPL games. Creating the partnership was important and we (Rinku and I) kept talking to each other to not lose that intent in big games and it was a good game for us to be in, the pressure was there and was important to bat long and deep and not compromise on the intent we want to show,” said Rohit after the match.

Rohit Sharma Heaps Praise for Rinku Singh

Rinku Singh has been Rohit’s partner. The Indian skipper went on to laud the effort and the form that Rinku has shown over the last couple of series. Rohit claimed that Rinku understands what is needed from him and have been very calm in critical situations.

“The last couple of series that he played, he showed what he can do with the bat. Very calm and knows his strength pretty well. He is coming off age and doing what is expected of him and he has done really well for India. Augurs well for the team moving forward, wanted someone like that at the backend and we know what he has done in the IPL and he has carried that to the Indian colors as well,” Rohit concluded.
