To note, Gaikwad has been named as the vice-skipper of the Indian squad taking on Ireland in a 3-match T20I series. The Men in Blue are set to take on Ireland in the second match of the series to be played on August 20 (Sunday).

Will pay to watch him bat in the nets: Ashwin on Gaikwad
“Ruturaj is world class, he is as beautiful as Prabhu Deva’s dance moves, he is born to make batting easy – if someone asks me to pay for watching him bat all day at the nets, So obviously I will pay to see him,” Ashwin said on his YouTube channel.
Ruturaj Gaikwad, who made his international debut in July 2021, has so far played 10 T20 Internationals and 2 ODIs for India. Gaikwad has not been able to make a place in the national team continuously so far. Till now, Gaikwad has stroked 154 runs 10 T20Is at an average of 19.25. He plays at a strike rate of 125 and has also smashed one fifty with the bat. In ODIs, he has amassed 27 runs in two matches.
The right-handed batter was looking in good touch in the opening encounter against Ireland. Opening the innings alongside Yashasvi Jaiswal, the right-handed batter took his time in the middle as he stroked an unbeaten 19 in 16 balls before the rain halted the game. Till then, Gaikwad had stroked two boundaries including a maximum.
Gaikwad will be looking to continue his good run with the bat in the second match. As mentioned above, the Men in Blue are set to take on Ireland in the second T20I encounter to be played at The Village, Dublin on August 20 (Sunday).
