Former Indian batter Suresh Raina on Monday heaped praises on youngster Dhruv Jurel. Jurel’s batting and keeping prowess helped India win the Test series against England. Jurel stood out with his performance in the IND vs ENG 4th Test, scoring 90 and an unbeaten 39 runs respectively.
His batting in the first innings pulled India out of a tricky situation and pushed them towards a decent score. In the second innings, Jurel teamed up with Shubman Gill to propel India towards the series-winning victory.
The young wicketkeeper-batter, playing only his second Test match, won the player of the match for his heroics in the IND vs ENG 4th Test. Suresh Raina was left deeply impressed by Jurel’s performance.
“He’s been amazing; I have played a couple of matches with him for Uttar Pradesh. Special credit to Rohit Sharma the way he gave chances to first Sarfaraz and Dhruv Jurel. It is not easy to come into Test cricket and score back to back fifties, especially in a crucial Test match where the wicket was turning,” Raina told PTI.
Moreover, Raina also praised Jurel’s wicketkeeping skill. “I was impressed with his wicket-keeping, he has worked really hard. He comes from an Army family. So he has that fearless attitude of never wanting to lose anything from anywhere,” he added.
