“He can turn that around”: Andrew McDonald believes Marnus Labuschagne will return to being the very best

India will play the second Test of the BGT in Adelaide which will be a Pink Ball Test on 6th December

The Australia Cricket Team finds themselves in a precarious situation. After being handed a 295-run defeat in Perth, the hosts are ready to turn the tide in the Border Gavaskar Trophy. And for doing that, the Aussies need their ace batter Marnus Labuschagne to fire on all cylinders.

The former ICC number 1 in Tests looked a shadow of himself. He was dispatched for just 2 runs in the first innings after playing 52 deliveries. On the other hand, he fell victim to Jasprit Bumrah in the second innings after scoring just 3 runs. And now Australia Cricket Team coach Andrew McDonald believes that Marnus Labuschagne can turn things around very soon.

Patience is Key

“When we’ve seen him at his best, he’s shown great intent at the crease. That’s an ongoing discussion and that ebbs and flows in players’ careers. At the moment he’s in one of those patches and no doubt he’ll be getting critiqued externally,” McDonald said.

The Australia coach has put his entire trust on Marnus Labuschagne. Though there are reports of him getting anubbed from the Playing XI, Labuschagne will continue to be a part of the squad for the Adelaide Test. The Aussies have retained the same squad for the Pink Ball Test.

“Internally we’re really confident that, at his best, he’s the player that we need. We’re really confident he can turn that around,” McDonald added.

The team management continues to put their entire trust on Labuschagne. McDonald believes that the baf form will pass away very soon and he will be back being the best like he was before. He also further argued that Labuschagne is exactly the player that Australia needs and is confident that he can turn things around.
