No further action took place and thus without any challenge, Wanindu Hasaranga joined RCB for 10.75 who had a base price of 1 Cr heading into the auction. The IPL 2022 Auction was paused and an early break was taken after auctioneer Hugh Edmeades, the IPL Auctioneer had an unfortunate fall due to Postural Hypotension.

Hasaranga is a brilliant player and rightfully so the RCB, SRH, and PBKS were locked in a titanic bidding war to acquire the Sri Lankan youngster. Hasaranga was a late addition by RCB last season and was bought in as a replacement player. He had played 2 matches in IPL 2021 and the Lankan all-rounder will be eager to set his mark in IPL 2022.

The highest bid was with Royal Challengers Bangalore for a price of 10.75 crores for Hasaranga when the unfortunate incident took place. The medical team has revealed that Hugh Edmeades is stable, but would take no further part in the auction. In his place, Mr. Charu Sharma continued the auction proceedings.

A bidding war for Faf du Plessis took place between Royal Challengers Banglore (RCB), Chennai Super Kings (CSK), and Delhi Capitals. For Quinton de Kock Lucknow Super Giants, Chennai Super Kings, and Mumbai Indians engaged in the bidding war.

Earlier in the auction, India opening batter Shikhar Dhawan was acquired by Punjab Kings for Rs 8.25 crore. Spinner Ravichandran Ashwin was bought by Rajasthan Royals for Rs 5 crore. While Kagiso Rabada was sold to Punjab Kings for 9.25 crore. India batter Shreyas Iyer was bought by Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) for Rs 12.25 crore and Mohammed Shami went to Gujarat Titans.

INR 2 Crore Bracket: Some of the big international names who have made themselves available are Pat Cummins (Australia, base price Rs 2 crore), David Warner (Australia, Rs 2 crore), Steve Smith (Australia, Rs 2 crore), Quinton de Kock (South Africa, Rs 2 crore), Faf du Plessis (South Africa, Rs 2 crore) and Mark Wood (England, Rs 2 crore), Kagiso Rabada (Rs 2 crore), Dwayne Bravo (Rs 2 crore)
