The much-anticipated encounter between the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) began in a high-octane fashion. After being put to bat first, RCB openers Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis targeted the KKR bowlers to give a great start to the home side. RCB skipper du Plessis, in particular, looked to dominate the game as he hit Harshit Rana for a magnificent six behind the keeper’s head. It was a premeditated scoop that flied over the third-man boundary.
However, the South African maestro tried to replicate the same shot on the very next ball. But this time, Rana had a counter plan as he bowled a slower delivery on the stumps. While du Plessis did connect his scoop, it only went as far as Mitchell Starc, who bagged a simple catch at short fine leg.
