Harshit 1 Faf 0: du Plessis’ overly ambitious scoop hands KKR their first wicket

Harshit Rana for KKR, Faf du Plessis for RCB
Faf du Plessis lost his wicket against Harshit Rana in the RCB vs KKR IPL 2024 match. He first hit the pacer for a six before losing his wicket due to an overly ambitious scoop shot.

The much-anticipated encounter between the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) began in a high-octane fashion. After being put to bat first, RCB openers Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis targeted the KKR bowlers to give a great start to the home side. RCB skipper du Plessis, in particular, looked to dominate the game as he hit Harshit Rana for a magnificent six behind the keeper’s head. It was a premeditated scoop that flied over the third-man boundary.

However, the South African maestro tried to replicate the same shot on the very next ball. But this time, Rana had a counter plan as he bowled a slower delivery on the stumps. While du Plessis did connect his scoop, it only went as far as Mitchell Starc, who bagged a simple catch at short fine leg.

Much to the delight of RCB fans, star batter Virat Kohli has started the RCB vs KKR game in a breathtaking fashion. Despite losing Faf du Plessis early, he has kept the run-scoring going, even smashing two boundaries and a delightful six to Starc inside the powerplay.

He was joined by Cameron Green on the crease. RCB’s score after 6 six overs read 61/1, with Kohli at 28* and Green at 24*.
