Harmanpreet Kaur’s India to play a multi-format series against Australia before T20 World Cup 2024

The Indian women's team are currently on a roll, thrashing South Africa in three ODIs and a Test most recently.

The Indian women’s cricket team will embark on a multi-format tour of Australia next month as part of their preparation for the upcoming ICC Women’s T20 World Cup in Bangladesh. This ‘A’ series will feature three T20 Internationals, three One-Day Internationals (ODIs), and a four-day Test match.

The T20I matches will be played at Allan Border Field in Brisbane, while the Mackay’s Great Barrier Reef Arena will host the ODIs. The four-day Test will be held at the Gold Coast District Cricket Club.

Australia ‘A’ announces Tahlia McGrath as captain

Cricket Australia has unveiled the schedule and named three separate squads for the Australia A side. Tahlia McGrath will lead the team in the T20I and ODI formats, while Charli Knott will take charge for the four-day Test.

McGrath expressed her excitement about the upcoming series, stating, “I’m really looking forward to being a part of this series and for the challenge that India A will pose. It presents those of us not playing in The Hundred with the chance to prepare for a huge summer against a strong opposition.”

Full schedule for India’s tour to Australia 2024

Second T20i: August 9, Allan Border Field.

Third T20i: August 11, Allan Border Field.

The series kicks off with the first T20I on August 7th at Allan Border Field, followed by two more T20Is on August 9th and 11th at the same venue. The ODI leg starts on August 14th at the Great Barrier Reef Arena in Mackay, with the remaining two ODIs scheduled for August 16th and 18th at the same venue. The four-day Test will be played from August 22nd to 25th at the Gold Coast District Cricket Club.

This tour comes on the heels of the Indian women’s dominant performance against South Africa at home. They have already secured a clean sweep in the ODI series and emerged victorious in the four-day Test. The team will be aiming to carry this momentum into the upcoming series against Australia A and use it as a valuable preparation for the T20 World Cup scheduled for October 3rd to 20th in Bangladesh.
