Harmanpreet’s fifty & Ghosh’s breathtaking 64* help India women’s score 1st ever 200+ total in T20Is

Team India posted 201/5 against the U.A.E which is now also the highest ever by a team in Women's Asia Cup history.

The Indian women’s team played their first-ever T20 international game back in 2006 and after 18-long years, the Women in Blue have racked up their maiden 200-plus total in the format. It has come in the ongoing Women’s Asia Cup in Sri Lanka, where Richa Ghosh’s breathtaking innings of 64* off just 29 balls helped the team pile up 201/5 in 20 overs.

Harmanpreet & Ghosh power India above 200!

After a blazing start given by Shafali Verma, Harmanpreet Kaur anchored the innings. She kept one wicket intact and built crucial partnership with Jemimah Rodrigues. Once Jemimah was dismissed, in came Richa Ghosh, who was simply brilliant. She took a massive toll on the opposition bowlers and hammered them all parts of the ground, mustering runs at a stellar strike rate of over 220.

Richa Ghosh clobbered as many as five consecutive boundaries off the last over, which ultimately helped India to go past the 200-run mark. The Indian wicket-keeper’s superb score of 64* is also now the highest ever by any Indian keepers in women’s T20I. The previous highest was by Sulakshana Naik, who made 59 in a game against Sri Lanka back in 2010.
