Harmanpreet Kaur defends players after team’s poor fielding show in INDW vs AUSW 2nd ODI

The Indian Women's team dropped 7 catches which played a role in team's loss in INDW vs AUSW 2nd ODI in Mumbai.

Indian Women’s team captain, Harmanpreet Kaur defended her side after team’s poor fielding performance in INDW vs AUSW 2nd ODI in Mumbai on Saturday.

The Indian team dropped 7 catches which allowed the Australian team to post a competitve 258 on board on a tricky pitch at Wankhede Stadium.

However, despite team’s 3-run loss in the game, Harmanpreet Kaur defended her side and said that dropped catches are “part of the game”.

“I think that is part of a game. We have been playing in the heat and playing a lot of cricket, so we need to bounce back, that’s important”, the Indian skipper said in post-match presentation.

Deepti Sharma’s 5-wicket haul and Richa Ghosh’s 96-run knock was not enough as Team India lost the game by 3 runs and lost the series 0-2 with one game to go.

Harmanpreet lauded Richa’s knock but admitted that the team could have shown more awarness to get over the line.

“Lots of positives from the game, but they took the game away from us in the end. We could have shown some more awareness”, the 34-year-old added.

The third and final ODI will be played on January 2 at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
