Delhi District Cricket Association (DDCA) chief has promised to take appropriate action against fans who misbehave with players on field. His remarks come in context of Mumbai Indians skipper Hardik Pandya being booed by fans across various venues in the ongoing IPL 2024. Delhi is all set to host IPL games starting from April 20.
DDCA vows to take action against fans misbehaving with players
“See, there is a decision yet to be taken because till date in the last three years, I haven’t seen such a situation where we’ve seen spectators or individuals misbehave or be ill-mannered or chances of booing etc towards a participating team, players or an individual. It’s not something we have experienced. It’s obviously not something that we encourage. But if the need arises and we do see a situation of that sort, then an appropriate decision will be taken at that point of time,” DDCA president Rohan Jaitley told IANS.

Hardik Pandya – the captain
Pandya has borne the brunt of the fans since the end of 2023 when he was traded to MI from GT and replaced Rohit Sharma as the former’s skipper. It is pertinent to note that Hardik’s credentials – both as a player and skipper – are exemplary.
HP was named India’s T20I captain, taking over from Rohit Sharma only to be injured during the ODI World Cup and exiting the scheme of things. Prior to this, Pandya led GT to their maiden title win in their very first year of the tournament in 2022. In the following year, the side finished as the runner-ups as they lost to CSK in IPL 2023 final.
