MI vs RR: Hardik Pandya turns jeers into cheers of Wankhede crowd, slams fine 34-run knock to save MI from blushes

Hardik Pandya undid himself. The new Mumbai Indians skipper has been trolled time and again. But he turned the jeers into cheers as he held the helm for his side after MI’s top order collapse. The Wankhede crowd went on to cheer Hardik Pandya when he smashed a 19-ball, 34-run knock in the MI vs RR clash.

Mumbai Indians needed someone to hold their helm after the top order departed without troubling the scoreboard much. Hardik Pandya took the task on himself to undo the wrongs. He switched gears, attacking the RR bowlers to hammer 6 fours much to the applause of the Wankhede crowd.

Mumbai Indians were hit by the Boult storm. Rohit Sharma, Naman Dhir and Dewald Brevis all departed for ducks as MI were reduced to 14/3. On came Hardik Pandya who along with Tilak Varma decided to attack the RR bowlers. They switched gears to go at hammer and tongs.

This greatly encouraged the Wankhede crowd. The crowd which was booing Pandya during the toss, immediately decided to cheer for their new skipper. But Pandya was unable to go and slam his fifty. In a fit to go all out aggressive, he took on Yuzvendra Chahal to go the distance, only to be caught by Rovman Powell.
